CLIMBING

Sport Climbing

A form of rock climbing that relies on anchors (called bolts) which are permanently fixed to the rock for protection, in which a rope that is attached to the climber is clipped into quickdraws, which are attached to the the bolts to catch the climber in the event of a fall.

Traditional (“Trad”) Climbing

A style of rock climbing in which a climber or group of climbers place all gear required to protect against falls into features in the rock face, and remove it when a pitch is complete. Then they repeat this process on every future pitch until the entire height of the wall has been climbed.
